Fashion Bra Straps

Did you buy that adorable, strapless, little black dress for the holiday party but find you are afraid to wear it without a bra? Maybe your strapless bra just doesn't hold up to dancing and although you love the bare-shouldered look, you need support to look your best and be comfortable and confident.

I found the most remarkable solution to the problem - stylish and fashionable bra straps that you want to show off! These straps come in many styles for any outfit. There are fabric straps as well as beaded and jeweled straps. They attach to your adjustable strapless bra, just like the straps that came with it.

I can think of a lot of outfits that these straps would work well with. In the summer, those tank tops that are so popular are designed so that your bra straps show. If you're going to let them show, why not have some that are worth showing off?

The straps are called Strappys and you can get them at strappys.com. Go have a look, I think they're great!

Choosing Foundation for Winter

Gone are the bright summer days when that natural sun-kissed glow carried you through without having to use foundation. Maybe you got by with a good moisturizer or a light mineral make-up. But now that winter's here, should you switch to foundation and more coverage?

Generally, the answer is yes, although much depends on the condition of your skin. Do you have even-toned skin without many blemishes or imperfections? If the answer to that is yes, then you should probably continue with a light to medium mineral foundation that will give you light coverage but create that flawless look.

However, if you're one of the many who needs a bit more camouflage for imperfections and to even your skin tone, then it's a good idea to switch to a liquid or cream foundation. Find one that matches your skin tone and has a matte finish. Moisturizing as a primer is important, especially in winter, or you can use a moisturizing foundation.

You don't have to opt for a heavy or cakey look, not if you choose a light, water-based foundation in a shade that looks natural with your own skin color. Finish off your face with a light powder and some shimmer to catch the lights and you will be looking flawlessly beautiful for the season.

Lean Cuisine Recalls Frozen Chicken Meals

If you're dieting, and most women are at some point, then you might use frozen dinners to help you cut calories. They are quick, easy and the calories are counted for you, but be aware that you should check your freezer if you have any of the Lean Cuisine dinners that have just been recalled.

Nestlé Prepared Foods Company in Springville, Utah is recalling frozen chicken meals that may contain small bits of hard, blue plastic. The following products are subject to the recall:

Shop Now, Pay Later with Sears Layaway

Want to do all your Christmas shopping now but don't have the available cash do it all at once? Then you're going to be thrilled to learn that Sears has a special Layaway program just for you early-bird Christmas shoppers. Find all the great items at bargain prices and hold them on layaway with just a down payment.

I have always loved layaway programs because they let you select all the items you really want to buy instead of limiting you to just one or two that you can afford today. With a layaway, I don't have to pay interest on my credit card in order to take advantage of great holiday sales. With Sears Layaway program, even apparel clearance is eligible.

The great thing about a layaway at a store like Sears is that you can pretty much shop for everyone on your list in one place. I could pick up those fashion jeans for the teen girl, some warm fleece for my husband and find the newest and most popular toys of the season for the boy. All I have to do is select the items I want, take them to a register, make a cash down payment, and Sears will hold my items on layaway, all the way to December 23rd.

I know this program is going to make your holiday season less stressful and a lot more successful. Remember that the layaway program is available for in-store items only and that there are certain restrictions on items that can be put on layaway. See you at Sears!

Invest in the Rebuilding of America

In these days of an uncertain future for the economy and the topsy-turvy movements on Wall Street, the average person may be wary of investments and even of his own future. Many have lost some of their retirement funds and wait for recovery.

Worst of all has been the housing crunch. The rise in foreclosures because of ill-advised subprime loans have left many families without their homes, and affordable housing is not easy to come by.

But thanks to Rebuilding of America, you have an opportunity to invest in the future of our country, provide opportunity and jobs through investment in worthwhile projects.

You may be wondering if there's any affordable investments where your money will not only be safe but also give you solid returns. With Rebuilding of America you can invest in safe, secure and FDIC insured certificates of deposit, for just $25.

You probably spend $25 each month just on coffee and lunches out. Instead of dropping that $25 at the drive-through window of your local coffee and donut shop, you could invest it in America's future. Invest it in the revitalization of the construction and real estate business. You can help them rebuild and resell income-producing properties that will be a benefit to the community served through projects that build housing.

Rebuilding of America doesn't keep any of the profits they make from these projects. All of the profits are returned to the investor. There are not many deals like that.

So while you're looking at possible investments, consider investing in this great country and its people. Just $25 will make you part of this great effort, and you will reap the benefits in so many ways.

Lipstick Index Predicts Failing Economy

They say the Lipstick Index is never wrong in gauging the state of the economy. The theory behind the Lipstick Index is that, in hard economic times, the sales of cosmetics tend to go up, even as all other indicators are going down.

The New York Times is reporting a 40% increase in lipstick sales over just the past three months. Now there's no denying that consumers worldwide are feeling the pinch of a depressed economy and even the pressure of the credit crunch, but heck, they still want to look good.

Of course, part of the reason for the increased sales may be that we are now in the fall season and lipstick, particularly red lipstick, is very, very "in". Summer months may show similar sales increases for lip balm and lip gloss.

It's a well-known fact that the Lipstick Index has always been a fairly accurate barometer of a failing economy. Let's hope that the incredible sales increases are at least partly due to trends in fall makeup and not another reason for gloom.

How to Save in Style

The economy is on everyone's mind right now, and so a blog devoted to shopping and looking great may seem a little out of place. But what we really try to do here is to find the best trends and products for the best bargains, because everyone has a budget to keep in mind even when they love to shop.

There are some items we can do without, some luxuries to trim from the budget but some are essential expenditures. But there are ways to keep costs down even on essentials. Use coupons for groceries, shop sales and definitely use the internet for online shopping deals.

For those who need vision correction and wear glasses, you can save money by not buying those expensive designer frames at the optometrist's office but shopping conveniently online. Zenni Optical can save you big money on eyeglasses with their own manufactured frames that they sell direct to you, the customer. By cutting out the middleman they can offer complete prescription eyeglasses for as low as $8.

Zenni is such a good deal, they are even mentioned in the book "Living Rich by Spending Smart". The best thing is that you don't sacrifice style or quality by buying online and you will save money that is needed for other bills and needs.

Fall Makeup -Warmer, Richer and More Color

The two biggest trends this fall/winter seems to be the comeback of old-time Hollywood glamour. We have been encouraged over the past few years to go natural, toned-down, neutral and glossed but this fall, rich and vibrant colors are making their way into makeup trends.

Those neutral, peachy glossed lips of spring and summer have already faded away. This fall, go for matte reds and rich wines, it's time to give your pout some clout with powerful colors.

Eyes are smoky, but much more heavily lined than ever before. Eyeliner is a must, in deep shades of violet, navy and olive as well as the traditional black and brown hues.

Don't forget to update your makeup when you update your fall wardrobe. Let your makeup be as rich and warm as those bold fall colors you're wearing.

Purple to Make Eyes Pop

The new color for eyes this fall is purple - all shades of purple. And purple is stunning with any eyecolor, whether brown, blue or hazel. I have always loved purple now I can wear it as much as I like.

Fall is the time for rich, warm colors in your wardrobe and a smokey purple eye with warm shades of plum offset with deeper hues can make any eye pop. You can use a lighter plum or lavender on lids and a deep violet in the crease to create depth. Brush the violet along the lash line for more definition and a smokier look. Or use a steely grey with a light lilac for an eye-catching smokey look.

For eyeliner you can choose traditional black or dark grey to outline eyes. Remember to finish off your smokey eye with some light shimmery shadow or powder high on the browbone under the eyebrow and two coats of black mascara.
