As someone who has spent many hours over the years holding up a hand mirror to the back of my head, while attempting to catch the reflection in a bathroom or other mirror (and finding the whole process frustrating), this little gadget is simply the best invention on the planet.
This 360 degree mirror is actually 7 mirror panels, all hinged together. It can be extended all the way open and positioned to show you any angle, even the back of your head. You can also pull the mirror out to you, for a close-up view without having to bend over a sink. The mirror hangs on the wall and can be fixed in place with either screws or with suction cups that give you more flexibility in positioning.
Checking your look is made easy with this adjustable mirror that lets you see all around your entire head without straining. Think of being able to see your French brain or upswept hairstyle as you create it! The mirror is available for about $35 - $40 which makes it a relatively inexpensive investment in a beautiful outcome.

Easy Homemade Oil Soak

The drier weather of Autumn is coming and it will soon be chilly enough to turn up the heat indoors. All of this means less moisture in the air which we know can affect the moisture our bodies hold. In addition to the dry heat, our hands are subject to cleaning solutions and soaps that dry out the nails. Nails that are dry become brittle. They will flake, split and break when untreated.
The good news is that replenishing the natural oils and moisture in nails won't require an expensive visit to the salon. What you need is probably no further than your kitchen cabinet.
A nail oil soak made with warmed vegetable oil, olive oil or even wheat germ oil will bring tired nails back to life and give them back their sheen. Simply warm the oil of choice and place in a dish large enough and deep enough so that your fingers all fit and nails are submerged. Do this once a week for healthier, stronger nails that won't fall victim to the dreaded winter dry-out.

My Suit - Made to Measure
There's an old saying that "clothes make the man", and it's often true that our perception of someone is probably first influenced by what we see. You're a confident, competent professional with experience and savvy - but does your personal presentation convey that?
Why settle for an ill-fitting suit off the rack when you can have a custom suit for about the same price or even less?
Why is a Made to measure suit from MY.Suit so superior in fit and styling? An off the rack suit is chosen based on only three measurements, suit, waist and inseam. At My.Suit, they take up to 30 separate measurements to ensure that your custom made suit is perfectly fitted to your body type and size. A consultant will advise you on choosing the right style and fabric to produce the look that is right for you. A suit that is fitted to your body just naturally makes you look better, moves with you and is more comfortable.
Because these custom-fitted and fabricated suits start as low as $495, there's no reason to buy off the rack again. Being measured takes only about 15 minutes, so you can conveniently fit a visit to My.Suit into your busy schedule. In only two weeks you could be wearing the best-fitting suit you have ever owned.
Cover Girl signs Ellen DeGeneres
I have long been an avid supporter of Dove and their Real Beauty campaign. They really started the ball rolling - showing women with real figures, some larger, some flawed in their advertising campaign. They have obviously succeeded in showing that beauty isn't stamped from some mold, but is individual, allowing women to relate to women who look like them, not like 12 year old emaciated waifs.
And the trend continues. From Christie Brinkley to Diane Keaton, who at 62 represents a line from L'oreal, the trend towards using older women, and women that consumers can relate to is a healthy change in perspective.
And now Cover Girl has signed Ellen DeGeneres, 50, to be the face for a line of cosmetics starting in January. It's just another move by the cosmetic companies to bring in role models that aren't trying to sell women on a look that for many of them is unattainable. Instead of being doomed to failure, they are getting support for their individuality.
It's a healthy sign that society, and women in particular, are ready to stop feeling bad about not being what the magazines tell them to be and can be comfortable in their own skin. They can still be fashionable and fabulous just by being themselves.

Creating the Smokey Eye
The smokey eye is still the look for fall, and it's a great one because it works on nearly everyone. The key is to finding the right shades for you. Don't think that your smokey eye must be black or brown-based, you can go with deep, jewel tones like violet, blue or green and create an eye-popping look that will have everyone's attention focused on you.
Here are the basic steps to achieving the smokey eye:
1. Prepare your lid with an eyeshadow base or a cream concealer.
2. Choose your eyeliner. Use a pencil that you can easily smudge. Draw a line from your inner lid all the way to the outer edge. Dot eyeliner between the lashes on your lower lid. Smudge with the fine tip of a sponge or a cotton swab.
3. Brush on your eyeshadow that works with your color scheme - brown, grey and green all work well for smoky eyes. Keep the color deepest at the lash line and blend up into the crease and out to create that smokey look.
4. Use a lighter shade eyeshadow, like ivory, or a highlighting powder to create the lighter and light-catching section in the middle of your eyelid.
5. Mascara is key. Use a dark brownish-black or black and apply a second coat.

Eyebrows are Outstanding

Eyebrows are often an afterthought for many of us. Maybe you have them professionally plucked or waxed, but do you think about how their appearance really affects the total look?
Eyebrows frame the eyes, and the eyes are a focal point. Thin brows are out, and with good reason - they really don't add any interest to the face or frame the eyes well. Medium thickness to completely natural dominates the fashion world now, but how thick you want your brows will depend on your personal preferences.
In any case, the shape of your brows should be determined by their natural line. Even if you keep them full thickness, you still have to pluck strays and do clean-up. Additionally, it's important to make them stand out just a bit by using the right color eyebrow liner, or ideally, the right color powder applied carefully with a good brush. Filling in thin spots and accentuating the shape and line of your brows will make eyes pop more than any skillfully applied eye makeup.

Best Ways to Deal with Debt
I love shopping and getting a bargain, but sometimes even with bargain shopping, it's too easy to get into debt. With inflation driving prices up, just making ends meet often means the use of high-interest credit, which only makes the debt situation worse. When you reach the point where the ends simply cannot be brought to a point where they meet, what can you do? Well, bankruptcy is a solution, but it's not the only one.
If you have heard of debt counseling, consolidation loans, debt negotiation and other types of debt management solutions, you may be confused as to which type is best for your situation. That's where you can use really expert advice on how to best consolidate debt.
I once went through a period of debt settlement through negotiations with my creditors. I feel that I might have done a little better if I had sought the help of debt consolidation and management professionals. When you negotiate debts, you want to be sure you can afford the settlement amounts and that you will not affect your future credit in a negative way.
At Bills.com, you can learn about all the different types of debt management through informative articles as well as find out exactly how much you can save while becoming debt free. Don't rush into a program that doesn't serve your particular needs well, find the one that puts you in the best position to become debt free and financially healthy for the future.
Silicone Makeup for Flawless Looks
![]()
Celebrities and TV stars are going for the air-brush makeup, which provides excellent coverage, is light and looks completely natural as there are no detectable makeup lines. But how can you achieve this look at home? One way to create a flawless look without having an air-brush makeup artist on call, is to use silicone-based makeup.
Silicone-based makeups fill in creases and lines and make them seem to disappear, rather than collecting in them like some heavier foundations can. The silicone makes the wrinkles less noticeable by filling in the creases and the makeup lines are smoother.
Of course, much has to do with application which should never be heavy and must be lightly accomplished. Try applying the foundation with a makeup brush and then blending with a sponge to erase tell-tale makeup lines for a look that is natural, only better.
My personal recommendation is Adrienne Arpel's wonderful Signature A line. Her products are particularly good for older skin and achieve great results without looking overdone. I have used many of her products in the Signature A line and the quality is excellent.
If you're looking for silicone makeup, I might suggest Signature Club A by Adrienne Hyaluronic 1000 Silicone Line Fill Plumping Makeup. The line also includes powder (a necessity for a flawless finish) and crease filling eyeshadow.

Cartier Watches
Cartier is perhaps one of most famous names in jewelry and watchmaking. Cartier watches are known throughout the world for their elegant and exciting designs that have adorned celebrities and royalty. In fact, King Edward VII, when he was still the Prince of Wales, called Cartier the "Jeweller of Kings and King of Jewellers".
This gorgeous watch is a ladies version of the popular Tank watch, called the Tankissime. Styled in 18K yellow gold with a diamond bezel, it combines functionality with fashion so beautifully.
Designing and producing watches that are true pieces of jewelry is perhaps what Cartier is best known for today. Designs like the cartier watch tank, the Baignoire watch and Tortue watch became the symbols of quality and elegance. You may think that a Cartier watch is only something of your dreams, but I can let you in on a little secret that can make it a reality - and at a great savings.
At TheWatchery.com you will find an impressive selection of Cartier watches at incredible savings. But there's much more. Watches with the special "free watch" symbol entitle you to choose another watch that's valued up to $475 absolutely free or get up to 80% off any watch in a selected collection.

Lifetime Plans Makeup Artist Reality Series
I have come to expect that my teenage daughter will be stealing my makeup from time to time and experimenting with her look. I wasn't prepared for my small son to steal my blush from her and do some experimenting of his own. Looking at his haphazard splotches of color I asked "why would you do that"? only to be told that he wanted to look like me. It made me rethink my own blush technique, that's for sure.
Although it's clear that he won't ever be a famous makeup artist, some young and fresh new talents may just get that chance with Lifetime TV's upcoming series, "Blush: The Search for America's Greatest Makeup Artist."
The reality series will follow 8 aspiring makeup artists as they compete and are eliminated through six episodes. The winner will get a one year contract with Max Factor and $100,000 cash.
The series host, makeup artist mentor and three judges are not yet named.

Organizing for Back to School
I am not the most organized person in the world, and one task that always gets ahead of me is keeping all the kids' school papers, books and other items in order and accessible.
Now that we are through the hectic pace of the first week of school, there's time to sit back and look over the stacks of papers and informational packets sent home in bunches in every backpack each day. Add to that, folders for homework and top secret binders and notebooks that are especially designated for specific classes. Woe to the child who leaves the important notebook or binder at home on day when it is required. They actually mark students on preparedness these days - having the right book or pencils and pens becomes part of your grade. Thank goodness they didn't do that when I was in school.
Here's my new secret weapon in the fight for organization. This little Dymo label maker. Maybe you remember these from when you were a kid, I know I do. But you'd be surprised at the new features, the cool looks and the creative ways you can use these labels. They have everything from labels for file folders to lunch bags, you can even make iron-on labels for gym clothes.
The Dymo website gave me lots of great tips and ideas for making organization creative and fun in a way that even the fashion-conscious teen will approve of. Metallic labels on textbook covers? Very cool.
I may never become the best organized mom at the PTA, in fact, I may never make it to the PTA at all. But with a little imagination and a Dymo, I may manage to keep my kids organized this school year.
Tide Washes in New Gentler Detergent
Economists have long said that when the economy is bad, cosmetic sales go up. Women on a tight budget don't splurge on a new wardrobe, but will fill the fashion and beauty craving with a new lipstick.
But if she can't buy a new wardrobe, Proctor & Gamble is betting she will spend a little money keeping the clothes in her closet in their best condition. They've developed a new line of laundry detergent called Tide Total Care. Made with gentle ingredients such as those normally found in products like Pantene and Oil of Olay, the promise is that it will keep your best items in top condition and lessen fading.
Tide has teamed up with style guru Tim Gunn to bring you style videos and to reveal the "seven signs of beautiful clothes" so you can "dress to the sevens". On the website you can enter the Dress to the Sevens sweepstakes - grand prize is a $3000 wardrobe and there are lots of weekly prizes as well.
You can enter the contest and get a $1 off coupon for Total Care at this page.

Vertical Stripes Not More Slimming
One hard and fast rule of fashion has always been that vertical stripes make you look thinner, right? Wrong! says a psychologist at New York University. In fact, despite the fashion world's advice to adopt horizontal stripes to elongate the body, they actually make people appear heavier.
In experiments with flashcards of the same size woman wearing vertical strips and horizontal stripes, Dr Peter Thompson found that people perceived the woman in horizontal stripes to be slimmer. In order for people to decide the woman was the same size, he had to increase the width of the figure in horizontal stripes by 6%.
The adage that horizontal stripes accentuate your problem areas and make them look bigger, simply isn't true based on this research.
So the next time you are considering strips, remember, do the opposite of what the fashionistas have been telling you all along. Go for the horizontal stripes!

Snake Venom Cures Wrinkles
I hate wrinkles as much as the next gal, but here's one cream I don't think I will be trying. It's made with a synthetic version of the venom of an Asian snake and basically paralyzes muscles in your face.
Planet Skincare anti-aging snake venom cream is supposed to give results like those of Botox, only without the injections. It's applied to the surface of the skin, but will stun the skin into smoothness.
The pros according to the makers of this product are that it produces the same muscle paralysis as Botox but doesn't require a needle, that it can be applied daily and it won't alter the face's ability to express emotion. It simply paralyzes muscles that would cause creases and wrinkles.
Even though the product is not made from the actual venom of this viper snake, it is still poison. A pharmacology expert stated that it would only cause a problem through overuse, and that the body gets rid of it quickly. Hence, the need for daily application.
If you are looking for a Botox alternative, then plan to budget $120 USD per jar of cream. I may just stick with my regular moisturizer.

Yves St Laurent introduces Touche Eclat for Men
Recently we wrote about the new line of men's makeup being sold in the UK through the Superdrug chain. Guy-liner and Manscara were launched and marketed to men who want to enhance their eyes, and not aimed at convincing men to wear full makeup.
Now Yves St Laurent answers the growing interest in men's makeup with a newly formulated version of their Touche Eclat. The concealer will be produced in an unfragranced version for men, and will be launched next week.
Makeup for men may still take some time to gain popularity and acceptance in today's society, but it's not the first time in history that men have been this concerned with their appearance. In ancient Egypt, both men and women wore makeup, including heavy eyeliner and eyeshadow.
